Justice For Terence McArdle
EMAIL A Parole Protest Petition
TO: TDCJ –Victim Services Division 8712 Shoal Creek Blvd, Ste 265 Austin, Texas 78757 RE: PAROLE PROTEST PETITION Offender: THREET, BRANDON SID Number: 06768247 TDCJ Number: 01115991 Esteemed Members of the Parole Board, The purpose of this letter is to respectfully request that the Board DENY the pending application of Brandon Threet for parole. In 2002, Brandon Threet was convicted of manslaughter with a deadly weapon for killing Terence McArdle. Threet kicked Terence’s head with steel-toed work boots as Terence lay on the ground, killing Terence. At trial, Threet initially alleged that a fight occurred. However, after the State presented a videotape that recorded Threet killing Terence and several witnesses testified that Threet had bullied Terence for two hours beforehand, Threet admitted that he attacked Terence. Since his conviction in 2002, Threet has publicly reneged on his admission of guilt several times including articles published by the Austin Chronicle in 2005 and 2009. On November 14, 2017, CBS Austin aired an interview with Brandon Threet. In the interview article, Threet misrepresents his attack as “a fistfight turned bad,” and Threet blames alcohol and immaturity for bullying, attacking, and kicking Terence in the head. Threet neither apologized nor admitted wrongdoing for killing Terence. Indeed, Threet did not even mention Terence’s name. Threet’s public denial of the truth demonstrates that Threet is not remorseful for killing Terence. We, as a community, believe that if he is granted parole, Threet will harm or kill another person. Threet should serve the full sentence of twenty years for killing Terence McArdle because Threet is a threat to our community. On behalf of Terence McArdle, his grieving family, and our community I respectfully urge the Board to DENY Brandon Threet's parole for as long as the law allows. Respectfully Submitted,
